PRINCIPAL'S NOTE:

From the Office of Michael J. Miller

Wow, I can’t believe April is already gone!  It was a very busy month, including administering the Grade 3-6 NYS Assessments in ELA and Mathematics.  Preparations for the Annual First Grade Mother’s Day Tea, the 6th Grade Visits to the Junior High School and various Class Field Trips are underway.

On Tuesday, May 15, 2012, the VOTE on the 2012-2013 School Budget and Election of School Board Members will be held in each elementary school from 6:00AM to 9:00PM.  Please exercise your RIGHT TO VOTE!  The Business Office will be mailing Budget Newsletters to all District residents in the very near future.  Copies of the proposed Budget will soon be available on the counter in the office at the Riccardi School.

Although our children are involved in many, many outside activities during this time of year, please continue to stress that ACADEMICS AND ATTENDANCE ARE # 1.  Home and school working together will send a very important message to our students and encourage each of them to finish the school year putting forth the necessary effort to perform at their personal best.

The annual SPRING CONCERT was once again a tremendous successs – a special THANK YOU to Ms.Busia and Ms.Restifo, the Chorus and the Band for all their hard work in making the student assembly and the evening so enjoyable!  BRAVO!!

The calendar for May is filled many, many activities- be sure to look closely for the new events occurring at our school.  Please note the following changes in the May calendar:

Wednesday, May 2nd has been added as a Superintendent’s Conference Day – No school for students.

Thursday, May 17th has been changed to Wednesday, May 16th as a Superintendent’s Conference Day – No school for students.  Thursday, May 17th is a regular full day of school.

For the return of three unused emergency days and in observance of Memorial Day, school will be closed from Wednesday, May 23rd, through Tuesday, May 29th. We will return to school on Wednesday, May 30th.

Have a safe and enjoyable holiday break.

Wishing you a wonderful month!
