Library Availability
The JH Library is open every day. It is open every period including 9th, the activity period, unless a class is being taught. The daily schedule is given each day during the morning announcements. Both the daily and weekly schedule is posted on the library door.
Circulation of Books
Books are checked out for a two week period but may be renewed as needed. Books may be returned at any time, i.e. during Home Room, Lunch, between classes, etc. If a book is lost or destroyed, the student is responsible for the loss.
Accelerated Reader
This is a reading program that students of all reading levels participate in. Ask your child if his/her English Teacher is a part of this program. If so, he/she will be required to read one AR book each marking period. After completing the book, the student takes a quiz on a library computer. The quiz score is an important part of each student's overall grade. We have hundreds of AR books at every reading level in all genres.
Summer Reading
It is important for students to read during the summer. Each year a list of suggested titles is included with the last report card.
Book Fair
Each December, the JH Library has a week long book fair. We invite all parents. The week of December 3 is this years Book Fair. If you would like to volunteer to help out, please call the library or e-mail me at lmilligan@saugerties.k12.ny.us.
